Micron grade indicates the thickness of the thermoplastic material used in a pool cover. A cover with twice the micron grade has double the amount of plastic per square meter.
Many pool owners prioritize the micron grade when purchasing covers. Others however purchase without fully comprehending its meaning, significance, and limitations as a measure for pool covers.
- Higher Micron Grades Last Longer
Higher grade covers are more resilient to pool chemicals and UV exposure, lasting longer. Increasing the micron grade by 50% can double a cover’s life expectancy. This is why some pool cover last over 10 years, while others perish in only 2 years.
